Single Beds
Our single beds bring plenty of choice to the standard 3ft size, from lower wooden frames that keep the room feeling open to deeper panelled and upholstered designs with a stronger presence. At 90 x 190cm, they give one sleeper a full-length bed while leaving more of the bedroom available around it.
Choose from standard, ottoman, cabin, day and trundle beds, with options across oak, pine, painted, upholstered and metal finishes. Ottoman and cabin beds add storage within the bed itself, while day and trundle designs give you extra flexibility for guests or shared rooms.
Pair your chosen frame with a matching single mattress, or browse small double beds if you would prefer extra width. Free UK mainland delivery and returns are included, with finance available on qualifying orders.

Single Beds for Everyday, Guest and Children’s Rooms
A 3ft single gives one person the full 190cm mattress length while keeping the bed to 90cm wide. In an adult or teenage bedroom, that leaves more usable floor space for a desk, wardrobe or other furniture without reducing the length of the sleeping area.
In a guest room, a single bed keeps more of the room available between overnight stays, which is useful where the space also needs to work as a home office, dressing room or general spare room.
For children, a standard single has the advantage of being a full-size bed rather than a short-term junior option, so it can continue to be used as they grow. Where two children share a room, bunk beds can provide two full sleeping spaces without placing two separate frames across the floor.
Single Bed Types and Designs
Our single bed frames come in several distinct designs, from straightforward 3ft bedsteads through to storage, guest and children’s options.
- Low-foot and slatted beds: Keep more of the mattress visible and use open headboards to give the frame a lighter outline.
- Panelled beds: Use a broader solid headboard to put more emphasis on the frame and finish.
- Sleigh beds: Feature curved headboards and foot ends, giving the bed a deeper and more enclosed shape.
- Four-poster beds: Add height through tall corner posts, making the frame more prominent without increasing the mattress size.
- Ottoman and storage beds: Use lift-up bases or under-bed drawers to build storage into the 3ft footprint.
- Cabin and raised beds: Make use of the area beneath the mattress for storage, play or additional furniture.
- Day beds and trundles: Give guest rooms more flexibility, with selected designs adding a second pull-out sleeping surface.
- Wall beds: Fold vertically or horizontally when not in use, with some designs also incorporating cabinets or over-bed storage.
Single Bed Frames in Wood, Upholstery and Metal
A wooden single bed puts more emphasis on the structure of the frame, with oak single beds spanning open slatted and low-foot designs through to broader panelled and sleigh shapes. Natural, waxed and warmer wood tones show more grain, while painted finishes give the same shapes a smoother, more uniform appearance.
Upholstered single beds shift the focus towards the headboard, using padded fabric to create a softer backdrop around the mattress. Smoother weaves keep the surface understated, while finishes such as crushed velvet introduce more texture and variation as the light changes.
Metal frames use much slimmer rails, leaving more open space around the mattress and headboard. Finishes including black, nickel and warmer metallic tones can make the frame feel either understated or more decorative without adding the visual weight of a solid panel.
Frequently asked questions
What size mattress do I need for a single bed?
A standard UK single bed takes a 90 x 190cm mattress, or 3ft x 6ft 3. Pair your frame with a single mattress in the firmness and support level you prefer. Cabin, day and trundle designs can have different requirements for additional mattresses, so check the individual product specification.
Can adults sleep in a single bed?
Yes. A standard single is a full-length one-person bed suitable for adults as well as teenagers and children. If you prefer more room to move during the night, a small double bed increases the mattress width from 90cm to 120cm.
Are your wooden single beds made from solid oak?
Construction varies across our wooden single beds. Some designs use solid oak, oak veneers or other timbers, while others use an oak finish or wood-effect surface. Check the materials listed on the individual product page if you are looking for a particular construction.
What mattress does a trundle bed need?
The main frame generally takes a standard single mattress, while the pull-out trundle may require a shallower mattress so it can fit beneath the bed when stored. The maximum mattress dimensions and depth are listed on the individual product page.
Can I get a single bed with built-in storage?
Yes. Storage options include lift-up ottoman bases, under-bed drawers and storage incorporated into selected cabin beds. Some wall-bed configurations also combine the fold-away bed with surrounding cabinets or shelving.
Do single bed frames require assembly?
Many single bed frames require assembly after delivery. A standard frame may involve fitting the headboard, side rails and slats, while ottoman, cabin, trundle and wall-bed designs can require additional components to be assembled. Check the individual product page for the requirements of your chosen bed.
