Applying for finance
How do I apply for finance?
Add your chosen furniture to your basket (minimum £500 order including delivery), then at checkout select “Pay by Finance” and choose your repayment term. You’ll be securely redirected to Novuna Personal Finance to complete a short online application form.
How long does the application take?
The online application typically takes less than 10 minutes to complete. Most decisions are returned within seconds, although some applications may take a little longer if further checks are required
How quickly will my application be approved?
Most finance decisions are made within seconds. If your application is referred, Novuna’s underwriting team will review it and may request some further information before making their decision.
Once my application is approved, what happens next?
You’ll be presented with the option to e-sign your agreement online. A PDF of your agreement will be displayed on screen — please read it carefully, then sign electronically. A copy will be emailed to you once completed. We’ll then prepare and dispatch your order within our standard lead times.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
A deposit is not always required and depends on the finance option you choose. Where a deposit is required, it can be paid by credit or debit card.
Can I re-apply if my application was declined?
Yes. Circumstances change, and a previous decline does not automatically prevent a future application from being approved. We do recommend waiting at least 6 months between applications.
Payments and your account
When do my repayments start?
Your monthly repayments will usually begin one month after your goods have been delivered.
Can I change my payment date?
Yes. Once you receive your welcome documents from Novuna Personal Finance, you can request a change to your payment date by contacting them directly.
Can I make additional payments?
Yes. You can make additional payments at any time, free of charge.
Can I change my Direct Debit details?
Yes. Please contact Novuna Personal Finance Customer Services on 0344 375 5500 to update your details.
How do I view my balance?
The quickest way to manage your account is online via the Novuna customer portal at my.novunapersonalfinance.co.uk. You can create an account or sign in to an existing one.
Can I repay my agreement early?
Yes. You can settle your agreement at any time. Please contact Novuna Personal Finance directly for a settlement figure.
Credit checks and decisions
Will you credit score me?
Yes. As part of your application, credit and identity checks will be carried out with one or more credit reference agencies.
What is credit scoring?
Credit scoring is the process used by financial services companies to evaluate the credit risk of new applicants. Points are awarded for each answer on the application form — such as age, income, and occupation — together with information from credit reference agencies. This allows consistent, fair decisions for every applicant. Credit scoring does not discriminate on the grounds of sex, race, religion, or disability.
If my application is declined, what is the reason?
Novuna takes into account credit scoring, identity verification, validation of application details, existing commitments, and information held at the credit reference agencies. Although a specific reason cannot always be given, the most common factors are:
- Your credit score (every lender scores differently)
- Adverse credit reference agency information
- Being considered overcommitted
- Existing account performance with other lenders
What is APR and Rate of Interest?
The “rate of interest” is the cost you pay each year to borrow the money, expressed as a percentage. The “APR” is a broader measure — it reflects the interest rate plus any other charges payable (such as arrangement fees). All lenders must tell you their APR before you sign an agreement, so it’s a useful way to compare credit and loan offers. Oakworld finance has no arrangement fees or hidden extras.
What information do credit reference agencies hold about me?
Some information is public — such as the electoral roll, County Court Judgments, and bankruptcies. Other lenders may also file information about accounts you hold with them, including payment history and outstanding balances. Any requests for credit involving a credit reference search will also be filed, although the outcome itself is not recorded.
How do I obtain a copy of this information?
Send a request to the relevant credit reference agency along with details of all addresses at which you have lived over the last 6 years:

Cancellation, returns and complaints
What about warranty and returns?
Your furniture is covered under our standard warranty and returns policy. If you cancel your order within the applicable cancellation period, your finance agreement can also be cancelled. Please note the 30-day returns policy does not apply to finance orders.
Can I withdraw from my credit agreement?
Yes. Under Section 66A of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, you have the right to withdraw from your credit agreement within 14 days of signing. To withdraw, you must give Novuna notice in writing, by telephone, or by email. If you withdraw, you must repay the full credit amount without delay and no later than 30 days after giving notice. If you wish to settle after the 14-day cooling-off period, interest will be payable from the agreement date to the repayment date.
