Sideboards & Cabinets
Our sideboards combine cupboard and drawer storage in a wide choice of layouts, from compact designs for shorter wall spaces to larger units with three or four doors. You’ll also find sideboards with drawers for smaller items such as cutlery, paperwork and accessories, alongside cupboard-led designs for crockery, glassware and larger household items.
Oak sideboards are available in a variety of finishes, as well as mango wood, painted and mixed-material designs. Sizes and storage layouts vary considerably, giving you options for both living rooms and dining spaces.
If you’re furnishing a dining room, a sideboard can sit alongside one of our dining tables and chairs, keeping serving pieces and tableware close by. Free UK mainland delivery and returns are available, with finance on qualifying orders.

Sideboards With Drawers, Cupboards and Mixed Storage
Sideboards with drawers make it easier to separate smaller items from bulkier storage. Cutlery, paperwork and everyday accessories can sit in the drawers, leaving the cupboards free for crockery, glassware or larger household items.
Mixed layouts are common, with sideboards combining two or three cupboard doors with two or three drawers. If you need more uninterrupted space behind doors, cupboard-led sideboards give you fewer compartments and more room for larger items.
Some sideboards also introduce glazed sections, open shelving or basket storage alongside the main cupboards and drawers. If you prefer predominantly enclosed storage, our storage cupboards offer a simpler alternative.
Small, Narrow and Large Sideboards
Small sideboards give you useful cupboard and drawer storage where wall space is limited. Compact designs can start at around 75–90cm wide, making them easier to place in tighter dining rooms, living rooms or alcoves without losing enclosed storage completely.
Narrow sideboards take up less wall width but can use extra height to provide more storage. Consider them when a larger cabinet would leave too little space around nearby furniture or doorways.
Large sideboards give you more room across both the top and interior, with many wider designs around 130–140cm and some extending to roughly 190cm. Extra width usually adds doors, drawers or cupboard space, which can be useful if you need to store several types of household or dining items together.
Before ordering, check the full width and depth as well as the space needed to open doors and drawers comfortably.
Oak, Mango Wood and Painted Sideboards
Oak sideboards are available in lighter natural tones as well as warmer, darker finishes. Some designs use solid oak while others combine oak with veneers or oak-effect materials, so the construction varies between products.
Mango wood sideboards offer a richer grain and deeper tone, with some designs pairing the timber with black metal frames or darker detailing for more contrast.
Painted sideboards offer another option if you don’t want a natural wood finish. White, grey, black and blue designs are available alongside pieces that combine painted sections with visible timber. You’ll also find sideboards in acacia, pine, walnut and reclaimed wood.
Ready Assembled Sideboards and Delivery
Many oakworld sideboards arrive fully assembled, while others require some assembly at home. If you prefer a ready-assembled sideboard, check the product information before ordering so you know what to expect on delivery.
For larger assembled sideboards, measure the route into the room and the final position. Check that a wider unit will fit through doorways, hallways, staircases and tighter turns before ordering.
It is also worth checking the overall depth and height, particularly where the sideboard needs to pass through narrower entrances or sit beneath shelves, mirrors or other wall-mounted furniture.
Frequently asked questions
Can You Use a Sideboard Cupboard as a TV Stand?
A sideboard can support a television if the top is wide and deep enough for the TV base and the unit can safely take the weight. If you need space for consoles, cables and media equipment, a TV cabinet may be a better option.
What Is the Difference Between a Sideboard and a Display Cabinet?
If you mainly want to keep tableware, paperwork or other items out of sight, a sideboard gives you cupboards and drawers with a usable surface on top. A display cabinet is taller and often glazed, giving you somewhere to keep crockery, glassware or decorative pieces visible.
How High Should a Sideboard Be?
Sideboard height varies by design. Lower options can sit around 70–75cm high, while many standard sideboards are closer to 80–84cm. Taller designs can reach around 110cm if you want more vertical storage. Also consider what will sit above the sideboard, particularly mirrors, shelves, or wall art, so the overall height suits the space available.
Do Sideboards Have Shelves Inside?
Many sideboards include shelves behind the cupboard doors, giving you separate levels for crockery, glassware and other larger items. Shelf layouts vary between designs, with some using fixed shelves and others offering adjustable or removable shelving.
How Do You Care for a Wooden Sideboard?
Dust the surface regularly and wipe up spills promptly with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and excess moisture, and follow any care instructions supplied with the furniture, particularly for waxed, oiled, or painted finishes.
