Measuring for a Bedroom Chest of Drawers

Use a tape measure to check the space from side to side first, measuring between the nearest walls, furniture or other fixed obstacles. Then measure from the wall out into the room to find the maximum depth you have available, followed by the height from the floor to anything above the space.

Compare these measurements with the width, depth and height listed on the product page. Remember that skirting boards can stop a chest sitting completely flush against the wall, so measure from the point where the furniture will actually sit rather than the wall itself.

You’ll also need space in front for the drawers to open. Check the depth of the chest and allow enough clear floor space between it and the bed or other furniture for the drawers to extend fully without blocking the walkway.

Choosing a Finish for Your Chest of Drawers
